- Attractive, roomy and powerful sedan is a bargain compared to comparable BMW and Mercedes-Benz models.
- The model we tested had some build quality problems.

Great Car for old people and accountants - 1998 Lexus ES 300
By loco - October 22 - 4:46 amGreat reliable car, decent fuel economy, very comfortable but not too fast. Overall if you need a car for everyday that you know would not let you down you should buy it.

Im disappointed - 1998 Lexus ES 300
By Mark N - January 11 - 2:00 amI had reservations regarding this ES300 for me. Not enough performance and nose heavy. Changed to 215/60/15 Pilots which helped the nose heavy ride. Now at 48k, the transmission needed to be replaced. Bad enough at 48k. Lexus of Austin installed a rebuilt under the 100k warranty. Guess how I feel now. Looking a at Maxima GLE or Accura RL. Should have bought the 528 BMW in the first place.

new owner - 1998 Lexus ES 300
By Craig W. - October 6 - 2:00 amI bought this vehicle with 92,000 miles on it. My wife and I immediately went for a road trip and put 1,300 additional miles on it. It is an awesome vehicle. Good power and a smooth ride. Were still learning about the different features/buttons that come with it. I think one of the struts needs to be replaced, but other than that, it didnt even hint at having problems. Great car.

Very good car, but not perfect! - 1998 Lexus ES 300
By pahd_MN - December 6 - 10:00 amBought the car new. Overall a good buy. I had to have the brakes overhauled under warranty. I also had to spend money out of warranty to repair noisy tower strut parts on the front end. Maintenance by Lexus while under warranty was wonderful, but after warranty costs are expensive. Still, this has been a very comfortable and reliable car with enduring styling.
